In some cases, fins are added to the heat sink to increase the surface area, which improves the heat dissipation efficiency. Another method is forced air cooling. This can be achieved by designing the fan casing in a way that allows cool air to flow over the heat-generating components. Additionally, some advanced fans may use liquid cooling systems, although this is less common in small-scale DC centrifugal fans.

The choice of materials for the fan components also affects heat dissipation. For example, using insulating materials with good thermal properties for the motor windings can help conduct heat away more efficiently. Regular cleaning of the fan, especially the heat sink and air passages, is important to maintain good heat dissipation performance. Dust and debris can accumulate and act as insulation, reducing the ability of the fan to dissipate heat.
